Information
Provider Technologies
(IPT) announces
plans this week
to unveil its new
software which rapidly
builds small to
large stores on
the Internet and
AOL.
(Sunland, CA) IPT,
the first 3rd party
Vendor tools developer
on the AOL Resource
Center, was previously
known for its software
which allowed Copeland's
Sports, a chain
of 35+ stores in
the western United
States, to build
its original AOL
store, make its
holiday deadline,
and go on to become
the largest and
fastest-growing
store in American
Online Marketplace
history (late 1996)
-- using Provider
Plus-AOL store-building
software. (keywords:Sports
Super)
Now
in its latest incarnation,
running on WIN95/98,
NT, and Unix platforms,
Provider Plus Web
has kept its AOL
origins intact but
also produces e-commerce
and Java enabled
shopping pages for
the Internet. In
recent tests Provider
Plus Web has been
able to build a
complete online
store with 350 shoppable
web pages containing
1400 products in
one half hour, ready
for customers to
shop (www.livingmall.com/merchant1).
The software generates
pages from standardized
or easily customizable
templates. With
a single click a
merchant can produce
shopping pages in
either AOL Rainman+
or WWW html format
from the same product
database. "Previously
on AOL, it might
have taken 2-3 months
to accomplish this
manually," says
Barry Ira Geller,
President of IPT.
"The hassle of manually
creating and updating
pages one at a time
as well as the cost-inefficiency
of maintaining 2
separate databases
for AOL and the
WEB has caused many
AOL Merchant Partners
to stop using AOL's
internal shopping
structure in favor
of just pointing
customers to their
company website."
The result has been
that many of AOL's
excellent shopping
features have largely
gone unused and
AOL Merchant Vendors
have had to spend
more money duplicating
these features on
their Internet web
stores.
"Now with Provider
Plus Web AOL Merchants
can again take full
advantage of AOL's
internal shopping
features while still
being able to create
even the most complex
web pages for the
Net - and all from
the same product
database," Geller
says. "AOL Management
will be able to
bring more new merchants
online while eliminating
many previous costs
related to the extensive
training and support
always associated
with building new
stores."
Provider Plus Web
will retail for
$1,599 and includes
a sophisticated
internet shopping
cart, powerful search
engine, AOL and
Internet order extraction
software and many
other features.
The package also
includes IPT's Vendors(
program for use
by a merchant's
suppliers.
The Company plans
to negotiate special
Provider Plus Web
licensing with AOL
Management for Merchant
Vendors use.
Provider Plus Web
is slated for national
release by Mid December,
1998. Lite , Mall/Intranet,
Developers, and
non e-commerce versions
will also be released.
